This brief presentation displays a sampling of recent rendering / design projects that I have completed and is intended to introduce you to works created in a variety of ways to meet client requirements in terms of specified use, time constraints, development oversight, delivery of final images and cost.
Computer and Internet have expanded how rendering projects can now be developed, expedite fast and effective communications & viewing of project development in stages, as well as quick transfer of large image files. Drawings may now be readily developed in whole, or in part with photographs, text and or other elements and painting, or rendering techniques allow for presentations to be combined into striking depictions of preliminary concepts or full colour renderings of fully developed architectural and interior design projects.
Please feel free to contact me if you feel my rendering / design services might prove useful to your endeavors.

Preliminary Sketch for Proposed Redevelopment Scheme / Kelowna, B.C.
An Investment Group required a "Concept Drawing / Proposal" to display their basic notion of transforming an existing Industrial site into a Convention Center / Hotel / Office & Retail Complex. The property is expansive, centrally located and has existing structures. It was clear that a mix of existing and new structures could be developed to create such a development and that presented well, it seemed clear that the community at large would favor such transformation and welcome the addition of such a resource.
Having visited the site & taken photos while there, I was able to produce this sketch proposal quickly and with enough detail to convince feasibility without limiting whatever final form the project might take on acceptance.
To supplement the overview rendering, I used existing aerial site photo and site plan (shown here below) to develop these to display the concept in each context.
The main rendering was sketched free hand, pencil on paper, scanned to computer and developed in layers and rendered to final version. This was completed from start to finish within three days. The aerial photo & plan were similarly rendered in layers on computer and completed within a day.
The Investment Group received a full colour reproduction of the main rendering computer file for presentation and a CD with all three images reproducible to a maximum 30" width. |

Coastal Nature Boardwalk Proposal for in Sooke - West of Victoria , B.C.
Having visited my website www.artisthakli.com , Martin Young, then representing Heavy Metal Marine of Victoria, B.C. contacted me via telephone to request a rendering to display a proposed wooden boardwalk extending from an existing Government Wharf along the coastline.
Via computer and the Internet, photos were Emailed to me, which with computer I welded into a base for the presentation and over which, in layers, I developed the image of proposed structure, people and other elements that I felt would provide the appeal required for Public Display & Council approval for development.
The project was completed within three days, with client having the large computer file image on his computer in Victoria and thereby useable for reproduction and public display that weekend.
Project was accepted and approved and is now in the process of being constructed.
This was accomplished in approved stages. As I completed stages of the work, these developmental versions were published on a separate and non-linked page of my website for client review. The immediacy of Email & Telephone contact allowed my work to progress quickly with confidence at both ends of contact, so that what was needed was being done and to mutual satisfaction... even with the unrealistic time frame for the project.
While the client got the rendering main file via computer & Internet transfer, a CD was available for shipment as well. The presentation image was designed for reproduction to a maximum size of 33". |

Renovation / Expansion of Private Residence in Kelowna, B.C.
Having previously completed business related projects for this client, I was asked to produce an overview rendering of his home renovation and expansion.
I took on-site photos of the partially developed project and using the welded version of a number of photos joined together on my computer I created the background for the house rendering. In layers I was able to expand from completed and partially constructed aspects of the structure to add the three bay garage adjoining the house and transpose finishes, planters and landscaping to represent the residence completed and as viewed from the hillside in the foreground, Okanagan Lake also viewed from that position and from the rear side glazing and expansive decks to the rising mountains across the water.
Similar to other projects I have been doing over the past number of years, this project has been developed in stages that were posted on my website for the client to review and comment on, before I would proceed with further developments requested.
It's a process that's been proving itself to be effective for achieving desired results for both the client and myself and both time saving and cost effective as well. |

Entry / Cutaway Views of Reception / Lobby & Adjoining areas / Victoria, B.C.
A new client from Victoria had visited my website and needing an overview rendering to present their concepts for this development "over the weekend", I undertook the project on condition of available contact throughout that time frame & transfer of information via internet 'as needed - when needed'.
Predictably, due to the fact that we had not worked together previously there were problems in accomplishing this fairly complex undertaking over two days and in fact although begun Saturday morning, it was completed early morning Tuesday... from freehand pencil sketch to multi layered computer rendering.
Although 'a challenging process' ... nevertheless I think the final rendering turned out quite well... in spite of all the many hazards encountered working under these circumstances.
